Immerse yourself in the fascinating history of Domaine de Cardou, whose origins date back to the 17th century, or even further, according to some writings. At the time, it was nothing more than a three-storey dovecote extended by a two-storey building. According to legend, these premises were inhabited by nuns working at the church of Martignac, just a few hundred metres from the estate.
To support themselves, these women raised goats and sheep (vines were not yet widespread at the time). They made their own cheese and used the sheep's wool to spin and card, hence the name "Cardou".
In 1860, a sheepfold (as evidenced by the inscriptions on the pediment) was added to the dwelling. Later, this sheepfold was converted to accommodate pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela. The two buildings were then joined to form a single structure. The more recent extensions now welcome you to our three gîtes, which can sleep 10, 6 and 4 people respectively. We have also created a fitness room and a wellness area for your comfort.
For your enjoyment, the Domaine de Cardou has a salt-heated swimming pool, kept at a pleasant temperature of 29°C. A games room with table tennis and table football is also available, as well as a play area for the little ones.
Come and discover a truly historic haven and enjoy all the facilities we have carefully prepared to make your stay unforgettable.
